Your domain is the first thing people see in search results and shared links. A good one is easy to remember, easy to type on a phone and safe to build a brand on.
Five rules
- Short. Two words at most, under 15 characters if you can.
- Easy to say. If you read it aloud, people should be able to type it without asking how it is spelt.
- Neutral. Avoid trademarks such as "WhatsApp" or "Telegram" in the domain. Platforms can and do object, and a neutral name lets you add other platforms later.
- No hyphens or numbers unless they are part of a known brand.
- Matches your focus. "Group" or "chat" plus your niche — jobs, study, city — tells visitors what to expect.
Which ending?
- .com works everywhere and is what people type by default.
- .in signals an Indian audience and often has better names available.
- Newer endings such as
.clubor.chatcan be fun for a community brand, but people may not remember them.
Register the .com and your country ending together if both are free, and redirect one to the other.
Register it
Search and register at domainsrock.com or domainsrock.in. Turn on auto-renew straight away — losing a domain with years of search traffic is painful and avoidable.
Then
Point the domain at your hosting, install SSL, install WAGroups and set the canonical address under Security and access › Hardening. The help center has a step-by-step article for each.
